My current computer won't hold up much longer and while saving up for a better one, I have an old IBM Aptiva (w/Windows 95) still working well to use in the interim.
The problem is I lack the CD-Rom that apparently has the files to install my internet disk. (the Windows 95 start-up disk doesn't include this).
My question is can I download the required files onto a floppy and copy them onto the computer to be able to load my internet disk? Or could I download the files right onto the startup disk?
Thanks for the help!

Oh okay. If I understand you correctly, you need a Windows 95 installation CD so you can install the network components that are required to access the Internet. If that's the case then you have a few options.

While Windows 95 is no longer available on the regular software market, you will still find it at eBay in the $10 to $20 range

It you don't want to buy it, you have high-speed Internet service, and can burn your own CD from an iso file, take a look at The Pirate Bay for a Windows 95 iso to download. You might consider a Win95 hack called Windows 96, since it's small (~40mb), comes as an iso, and most likely includes the network components you need.

What type of connection does your ISP use?

Is it a broadband? If so does that Old Aptiva even have a network card?

I bought a brand new Aptiva when they first came out and it only had a modem, with no network card. No USB it was W95 as well.

I suspect he'll still need the Win95 CD to configure a dialup connection. If I recall correctly, Win95 did not install TCP/IP by default for any network devices, including the dialup adapter.
