    You can grind the mesquite beans into a flour,mix it with regular flour and make pancakes, same as using soy flour. I enjoy the shade of a couple mesquite trees that are close to the house. Now every day when I go out to the garden, I pull out some more plants. The eggplant, peppers, watermelon, tomatoes, and carrots are still producing. As for trees, some rodents killed a fig tree by completely gnawing off its roots. When I touched it, it fell over. There was nothing below ground level, just a round stub of trunk wood!

    Glad you told me about the fig tree. There was a rodent whole near the drip line. Will check tomorrow for evidence of root damage.
