I need meat rabbits, both for the market and breeding. I prefer New Zealands, but will consider Californians, Satins, etc.

We have a small family farm approx. 65 miles NW of New York City. In marketing our pastured goats and poultry, we have found a *huge* market for fresh bunnies, which we will attempt to (somewhat) fulfill.

Here's a link to a list of rabbit breeders in NY state:

I live in Virginia and raise Californians for meat/show. If enough folks are interested and can pay for gas, we could probably run some up.

If you're thinking about buying some rabbits, it's well worth joining the Professional Rabbit Meat Association (of which our own Pat Lamar is prez) or the American Rabbit Breeders' Association. These folks can provide you with a lot of useful information, help you "network" with other rabbit people, and refer you to folks raising your particular breed. It's well worth it, and membership fees are very reasonable. ,

Anyone looking for rabbits should also do an online search first, and you'd be surprised at what you can find. The American Rabbit Breeder's Association (show rabbits) has a page listing all the breeds they recognize ( and links to individual breed specialty clubs. You can then contact your respective breed club and obtain contact information for breeders in your area.

There are many breeder referral lists online including: (different site from one listed above)

Good luck, folks.
