I have several mater plants that are looking really bad. Yellow, brown leaves, etc. Should I cut those back and let them regrow for the fall garden or plant new?

I live in zone 9/10 so I can easily replant and have another small harvest this fall.

Also, anyone have any suggestions for new plants for me to try in my zone? My family is SOOOOO LOVING the Tommy Toes and so other small orange/yellow type. I tried a Zebra, which is suppose to put on huge fruit, but mine are as small as golf balls, so I doubt I will try those again. Spent a lot of $$ for that stupid plant too; oh well.

Thanks for any advise and suggestions.

Kim, if you have some good tips on the maters, just cut them off and root in damp sand for your fall garden.
