Just curious what everyones thoughts are with the recent plunge in fuel prices - and how that will affect "alt energies" as they are related to vehicles.

Obviously, electric vehicles, hybrids, bio-diesel, etc. etc. are far less attractive when fuel prices are low.

i'm sure it will have an impact with those who support alt options strickly for cost reasons, but i doubt it will affect those who choose alt options for ideological reasons. for those stuck in the middle, i am sure the huge spike in prices we have seen in the past year will help them decide as it has been shown that we are truly slaves to traditional fuel sources and those sources are subject to volatile price swings.

Care to place a small bet as to how long these prices will stay at this level . . . . .?
when the a-rabs hold back more crude watch the price rise.

I'm too into blending our own diesel to stop now.
Besides my diesel's run much better on our blend then on that ultra low sulfur crap.

Massive price swings seem to be all the rage. Kick the price way up, let people complain, drop them back a bit and folks all of a sudden forget the pain. At least most of them. Some of us see this as the beginning of the end. Oil will not last forever. I'd rather adjust to that fact now and do what I can do to maximize what's left and be a little kinder to the enviroment. Figure if nothing else, my efforts offset that of the guy or gal driving an SUV. With any luck, the new administration will be true to their word and invest in the R&D of alternate technologies.
