Chaos, if you build one of those soldier fly larvae things like they show on youtube the flies will come to the road kill in the bucket themselves and lay their eggs so you will have the larvae for FREE!!! No need to order them. On the other hand, if they spray the neighborhoods for mosquitoes in your area it will probably kill flies or any other flying/crawling thing too so then you wouldn't have the "wild" flies to come and lay their eggs. If you build one of the bucket breeder things you will want to have it quite a ways from your house as it will SMELL. Your chickens will like the larvae though. :)

my sister in law has baby chicks that are getting close to 6 inches tall now ----and im mainly wanting them so food scraps are returned into my plants even if I scatter it on the grass ---rather than foodscraps going into the dump :( ---as for my aquaponics ideas --theres getting closer to fruition now that ive found a lumbermill selling cypress lumber cheaply enuff I can afford it ---lotta work planning it down & smoothing it enuff to not rip my plastic liners ---but I got time , imagination , & willpower ---its cash I lack desperately :( ---so at a dollar a scrap board --I can make a sturdy sytem that wont rot for a long long time ---so eventually my fishies will want some tasty treats also :) --till then I can always feeze their future food
