Today was hard, we woke and found that 1 of our 2 ewes seriously injured her back foot. After vet declared injury too bad to salvage we are forced to send 1 ewe to butcher early.
Next hard choice I want some help with - 1 ewe is very lonely, we have her 1/2 brother an intact ram - he is penned with 2 whether dwf Nigerian goats. We're planning on sending both sheep to freezer camp between Nov - Jan. Now should we house them all together and risk pregnancy? Should we try to find her an old / or other ewe for company til they all go?
Will she be ok alone, heard that isnt good for sheep.

Thanks

I'm saddened to see that over there are over 79 views with not 1 answer. We are looking for ideas from as many folks as possible with experience in raising sheep or goats. Thanks

Why not put one goat with the ram and one goat with the ewe?

Can’t you keep them in side by side pastures or pens where they can see each other?

Do what is convenient for YOU. Put one goat wether in with her. Or send her to be processed.
