Did anyone see the OLN program Sunday night about living off the grid. It was a 1-1/2 hour program about this Canadian fellow Les Stroud. He & his wife had decided to move their family out to the country (kind of remote area). They then proceeded to renovate an old cabin & install wind generation & solar power. They had an outhouse with a woodstove in it because of their preteen kids. They eventually got a composting toilet inside. He said that he couldn't afford to drill a well as it was going to cost him $10,000. It was an interesting show but it didn't tell you how much all this non electric stuff cost him.

Les Stroud? Isn't he that Survivor Man or whatever? And on a side note, our cable will be turned off this weekend and your post is torutring me. I have a feeling we may get it turned back on within a few months if not weeks. Wish us luck!
