Not a bad idea at all. Can you tell me more about this item....do you light it with a match/lighter and then stick it into your pile of kindling? Once lit- can you put it out (how) and re use it another time when needed. Thanks, sis

First you light it, and then can move it into your kindling. It does get hot quickly, and should light up immediatly. You can put it out by closing the metal lid. It can be used over and over.
