Hi,

I have a 1949 Deere B tractor that I picked up last summer. It has the power lift system which was not working when I bought it, but when I put the proper amount of oil in there it works fine.

Something happened after I put the oil in though. When the PTO is engaged it makes a fast clicking whirring noise.

Can anyone tell me what is causing the noise and if it is something to be concerned about?

Thanks,

J.

In some of the John Deer B you only have power lift when the PTO is engaged. IF that is what you hear is the pump. You should have Non detergent oil 30 weight in the power lift. If you have anything else you will have a bubbling in the oil and it will not work right. They make a noise like a whirring noise if they are working right.

Yep, I put 30 wt non detergent oil in there.

The PTO must be engaged for me to hear the whirring, so all is well.

Now I need a 3 point adapter and a disc.

Thanks!
J.
