JD Diesel Injection Pump

376 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  agmantoo
My little (Early) JD 2240 is puking diesel into the crankcase. I replaced the fuel transfer pump first hoping for a cheap ($100) fix with no success. So I've pulled all fuel lines & the three taps holding the Inj pump on. The pump still won't come off. It feels as though the gear or shaft refuses to come loose. As I see it on JDPARTS.com, It should come off. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks very much, Stephen

Farminghandyman, I agree with you. The gear appears larger than the gasket and therefore it is unlikely that the unit can be withdrawn through the hole. Also, it would be difficult to verify that the injector gear is timed with the driving gear. I would want to put a number of witness marks on everything prior to disassembly.
