Called the butcher today to find out prices for getting the pigs done... These are the first pigs i have ever raised, so I had no idea how much it was.. Is it a pretty good deal?..
    he said
    $25 = kill, skin, cut
.40 = per lb for pork chops, ribs etc meat.
.70 = per lb for pan sausage
$1.59 = per lb for smoked sausage
.99= per lb for smoked hams/bacon

he directed me to another butcher to get one ready for a pig roast, as he doesn't scald/scrape, just skins.

My butcher charges .41 lb hanging weight + $15 slaughter and $4 per side for bacon, ham, jowl, etc and a $3 rendering. My only complain is it like over and hour from my house.

DH is on his way to the processor right now with one of our pigs. They charge a $20 kill fee and $.38/lb dressed wt. which includes the sausage. Haven't used them before but that's a little better than others in this area. The others charge a kill fee and so much a pound (.38 - .42) for hanging weight.
Keeping my fingers crossed that they do a good job...

    Late last year I paid:
    Butchering: $34
    Disposal: $7
    Cutting: .21/lb
    Wrapping: .23/lb
    Cure/smoke: .52/lb
    Slice bacon: .21/lb

A 205 pound (dressed) pig cost me $180, that's with 80 pounds of smoked/cured meat.

We pay a flat rate - up to 150 lbs is $40, includes sausage and wrapping, 150-299 lbs is $80, over 300 lbs is $120. He charges $2/lb (I think) to link the sausage. No curing or smoking avail. yet, but he says when his smokehouse is done he will charge $1/lb.

We try not to bring any pigs weighing 155 lbs or 305 lbs lol. That five pounds costs an extra $40!
