I have pregnant boer, when they are born do I need to seperate them and their mother from rest of herd? I see some people seperate them. I never seperated my pygmy babies and their mom from rest of herd.I am wondering if boer are somehow different?

    Hi maryanne,
We've been raising Boers a few years and have found it best to separate due does, so they have their kids alone for a couple of days in a small pen. We've had moms be confused and reject their kids when in too big a pen or with other does kidding the same day. There is less stress on the doe, as she is not worried about defending her kids and butting everyone else out of the way. Good luck!

We keep ours seperated as well, because like mamagoose said they get too confused, and want to beat everyone up to protect their babies. We now have three birthing pens, because we have a lot of girls.
