Hubby and I went to a gun show today. It is my understanding, and let me know if things have changed, that it is still a federal offense to have firearms if a person uses marijuana. Then why would people who stink of marijuana attend a gun show? And why would gun show attendees stand just outside the entrance to the show smoking marijuana?

There was only one place selling food and the stuff they had didn't smell that great.

To me it seems that selling guns and ammo to people who are under the influence of mj should be on the same level as letting a drunk test drive a car. Just a thought, those same people who were smoking pot at the gun show, will be driving home after the gun show.

Ohio isn't a recreational state, by law, yet. But the penalties for posession are very minor, unless you have bales of the stuff.

Attending a gun show isn't a guarantee that they were buying firearms. The son of a former neighbor was 42 when I knew him. He had so many felony DUIs and possession charges that he lost his driver's license permanently. He attended both car shows and gun shows.
I personally know of no one who would sell a firearm to a stranger who was under the influence. There are too many risks as a gun dealer/seller. It also wouldn't surprise me if one or more of those smokers were feds or plants.
There are areas of the country today where it isn't uncommon to see someone shooting up in a doorway. As with marijuana, the penalties can be little to nothing.

Here in Commierado that wacky backy is legal and they not only shoot up on the capital lawn in Denver but they poop on the sidewalk. I am telling you its true Mrs. Jones was there seeing her sister and they drove by and some homeless person was taking a dump on the sidewalk. Nasty.

Same deal in Indiana, it's not yet legal.
Was at a gun show last winter at the north side Indianapolis armory and there were obvious gang banger types as the show walking around with AK's & SKS's looking to buy stuff. If you passed by one of them close, they wreaked of weed. I'd agree dealers should refuse to sell to them when it's so apparent.

My buddy mentioned, that they were probably the only ones in attendance who were actually planning to use their purchases that day.

I recall being at a gun auction years ago. I'm pretty sure it was in Missouri. The auctioneer was explaining the rules before starting and he said something to the effect of "If you live in Missouri, you will need to fill out a form stating you are not a felon or nuts. If you live in Kentucky, Arkansas or Kansas, we will need your 4473. If you are from Illinois, you are welcome to watch.
For the Feds that are likely sitting amongst all of you good folks, we will abide by all laws, and we expect them to as well."

I was at Luck yesterday. I drive into Austin occasionally. I attend the local farmers market.

Cannabis is ubiquitous.
Another example of the further downfall of American society.
The more people that are stoners, the less that will be bothered with pesky things like politicians who adhere to the Constitution.
It's all part of the Master Plan.

And I say this as a recovered alcoholic and drug user.

Were you able to find any deals?
Not really. I can't believe how much prices have gone up in the past few years. A lot of the private sellers were pretty rude too. I did buy one of those magnetic latch belts. Probably overpaid for it but the cheap ones that fall apart in a few years are over $30 at Walmart.

I don't go to gun shows any more. You don't know who you are talking to, or who is taking pictures. For the feds, attending a gun show is like hunting over bait.

The policy at this one is a very firm NO PICTURES. You will be escorted out if you take pictures, I've seen it happen.

Yet one of the vendors refused to give out business cards and told potential customers to "take picture of sign".

““The idea that the word marijuana is racist, I just think it's nonsense. Marijuana is just the Mexican word for drug cannabis,” said Isaac Campos, a professor of Latin American history who has studied the story of weed.”

I have taken thousands pictures in countries where I wasn't even supposed to have a camera. It isn't all that hard.

I worked the club show today , there were a couple deals I bought 20 of the slugs I shoot for 15 dollars , there was a Thompson muzzle loader I give s good look I could have had it for 200 cash it was in very nice shape , talked myself out of it , how many 50 cal muzzle loaders does a guy need. maybe don't answer that.

If I didn't get credit towards my dues for working the show , and it wasn't one of the easiest jobs working security at a place where everyone is carrying a gun I might not go at all.
but I walk around with a vest that says I am security and I chat with people and relive the guys at the door for a restroom break

so basically shoot the sh*t for 4 hours catching up with other club members, a couple dealers and get into the gun show for free and stand at doors for a little while.
but I do it while armed and wearing a vest and no this vest wouldn't stop a bb gun , not body armor , just cheaper than getting everyone shirts that say security.

prices on most things were plain ridiculous

the best priced 9mm wasn't horrible at 18 for 50 rounds it wasn't exactly moving at that price

if your smart right now order from one the online places that is about 24-26 cents a round

they seem to be limiting the junk and food at the show , and no pot smokers outside the door
