Hello everybody!!! We finally made it back to TN and have some land. We started our homestead with some chickens and 2 ducks. they are about 5 months old. the female has been limping for several days. she is very nervous and has never let anyone get close to her. I was able to get close enough to see that on the middle ridge of her foot there is a large knot. Any suggestions??? What could this be and what can I do about it since I can't catch her???? My daughter suggested calling the vet but I knew you guys would be more helpful !!!! Thanks

You cant do any thing tell you catch the bird. Maybe use a fishing net or pool scimmer to catch her.

She may have broken that toe, or stepped on something that stuck into it. Catching her and looking would be the logical thing to do. If you take her to the vet, the bill would be enough to buy about 15 ducks, maybe more.

Hello TennHoney, and welcome to the board! You could try catching her where she roosts at night.

If she is still out running you she should be fine, regardless of the limp.
