Info on duroc cross

    Hey everyone, Im somewhat new to the world of pigs and need some info on the duroc cross breed. Any history, care tips, general facts, ect. would be greatly apreciated. Thanks

    Most of the breeds that large hog farmers raise are very similar except for the color of some. Cross breed hogs are prefered by many due to the "hybred vigor".
    Durocs are very good hogs as are many other breeds. Better get a good tomato crop to make them BLT sandwichs.

    One of our sows is a Duroc. Right now, she is raising her litter (my york boar is the sire) outside in her pen. The Duroc in the crossbreed adds hardiness and also better meat quality.

    We used to have a Duroc boar. We crossed with Yorkshire sows and butchered at 250 lbs.

    We have duroc sows that we breed to our hampshire boar. Tasty! :)
