Putnam County Deputy Miller, 24, was killed instantly late Tuesday night (Dec 5, 2006) when he was hit head on by a drunk driver. :Bawling: Please say a prayer for his family, fiancee, friends and co-workers when you read this poem written in his memory. Eddie's Eternity Dr. Wayne Harrison A cold dark night on a country road, A star was shining bright; It wasn't a star that God had made, But one being worn with delight. However, the badge on the uniforom, Doesn't really make the man; It's the character from within, That's developed by the Master's plan. A mother's love, a father's joy, Has brought him to this day; When he could listen to the words, And hear his Savior say; Welcome home Deputy Miller, You may now come in; Discard your earthly uniform, Lay up your shield of tin. Your work on earth is over, A crown of life you won; Your assignment fodr eternity, Is with the Father's son. Eddie was not only a deputy, but also a patrol officer for the city of Winfield, a volunteer fire fighter for Winfield Fire Department, a Sergant with the National Guard, and a volunteer for any other duties asked of him by his community. Eddie truely loved what he was doing; protecting his community. He was well liked and loved by all those who knew him. At his funeral, the family asked that we give thanks to all the officers that work everyday to make our world safe. Next time you see an officer, please thank him/her in memory of Deputy Eddie Miller.
