Can anyone tell me where I might find good oak barrels? They need to be about 15 or 20 gal. My friend is planning to use it for water and such in recreation history .... Any help would be appreciated

I think Cracker Barrel sells oak barrels.
Don't know about size or price.

I bought one, about 12 gal, a few years ago at a black powder mountain man rendezvous. Do a google search on those terms.

    Why shout?

Course Lehmans has a 5 gallon barrel for $129.95 but then it is new and comes with a free cork. The used whiskey barrel is 53 gallons.

Welcome to the world of commerce.

The barrels you find at landscape places and discount houses are usually cut in half for planters.

Sysco has used barrels for $30.00. They sell them for strawberry barrels. You might try a landscaping place, or nursery also.

I work for Independent Stave - who makes the best oak barrels around. We have cooperages in Missouri and Kentucky. But like someone said, oak barrels are not cheap. If you want wood, don't go cheap or they will leak. You might try a used plastic one as long as it is food grade.
