I want to know how fast a sugar maple grows. I need to start planting them but if they take a life time to grow I better choose other more productive tree. :hobbyhors

It will probably take 40 years to reach a 10" diameter. What do you need the tree to do?

I am trying to make my own maple syrup, but in my area all the land around us was depleted of trees and in the 60's was reclaimed by a tree company so we only have white poplars some blue spruces (not many) and another tree I was told it was genetical altered, so I dont know what that is. we have in the whole town about 5 maple trees and one is a sugar maple. I guess if I plant them I wont see the syrop in my life time, well we always eat form trees planted by the Lord or some good people in the past. Thanks for answering. somewhere in Pennsylvania
