I installed Chrome as a browser, but lost the toolbar!

It was suggested to me that I needed to update my browser thing-a-ma-jig do-dad, and it helped my computer speeds immensely.

I had been using IE, probably version 1, the kind that came out in 1956.

At one point, I downloaded a Google toolbar when I had IE.

I recently installed Google Chrome, but I lost the Google toolbar I had been using with IE.

I absolutely loved that toolbar, and miss it immensely!!!!!

Is there any way to get it back?

I bought my computer at Best Buy, if that helps. It is black and silver in color, LOL.

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, I only know about Google tool bar for Best Buy computers that are yellow and red in color.

Ah, yes, I didn't have any clue how to help you until you told me the specific color of your computer.

:gaptooth:

LOL - seriously, it's possible that the Chrome toolbar assumes it was supposed to supplant the old Gmail toolbar. I'll nose around and see if that's the case.
I can't imagine why anyone would want a extra toolbar taking up space on their browser. You can select where you want the search box you already have in IE go to any search engine you want it to including Google, and IE also has a built in pop-up blocker.

Nevertheless, If you like it just reinstall it http://www.google.com/toolbar/ie/index.html .
Google Toolbar is only for IE and Firefox, there isn't one for Chrome.
That's why the OP said

:p
I guess he did. But I thought he meant he wanted to use the toolbar with Chrome because really, why would anyone go back to IE?
Yeah...in an ideal world, I'd have Chrome as the BTAMJDD, (Browser Thing-A-Ma-Jig Do-Dad), and still have the Google toolbar from the IE.

I found it super handy and useful.

For instance, if I wondered how something was spelled while posting on a forum..."is carburetor spelled with 'or' or 'er'?....I could start typing 'c-a-r-b-u-' into the Google search, and the auto fill thingy would bring up the correct spelling of carburetor.

With the new Chrome, I have to leave a forum and go to Google to look it up, even though the spell check with Chrome is pretty cool.

I also like the drop down feature showing our history of websites that we frequent most often. With the new Chrome, you have to delete the web address, and start typing in the site name.

I'm not sure if any of that makes sense, but there ya' go.

I am sorely disappointed that Hermit John can only answer red and yellow colored computer questions. I almost bought that color, but they were out of stock that day. I know now that I should have waited!!!!!

You can do the same thing in the IE search box you already have. Just start putting the word(s) in and it'll bring up the possibilites under it.
Like I said above though, just reinstall it.

To do these things in Chrome:

With the spelling thing - just start typing the word into the navigation bar/search bar at the top of the screen - it will give you the correct spelling.

If you open a new tab (using the little plus sign to the right of the existing tabs) it opens a page with thumbnails of your most frequently viewed websites.

Or: Control-H will open a new tab with your history on it.
Now that is pretty nifty, Mistletoad!

How did ya get so smart?

Thank you so much!!!!!!!

Just open another browser in Chrome to look it up in google, and switch between them. You don't have to leave the forum you are in.
