Is it true that Carbon Media Group works with Syngenta, Dupont, and Monsanto?

Well, there goes the neighborhood.

Looks like with the mainstream comes more ads from bigger name companies if I am reading the article right. I have no idea what else it could mean. We will all just have to wait and see.

Oh, that news.

What does it mean for us, well that was in July. We've been part of Carbon Media since July. You can see what it means.

It means we (mods and I) went from working with Chuck, to Austin, and now Carbon Media. My contact there doesn't post and leaves almost all of the day to day stuff to the other mods and myself.

They do have a lot of other neat forums, so we have cousin forums, and an Internet TV cousin.

So, it was not mentioned as it was mostly the behind the scenes stuff that changed no biggy on day to day workings.

We are seeing changes though. It looks like the facebook page is being managed by someone else now. They are trying new things with logging in required etc. The management of the company that bought HT and the other groups is young and very plugged into the business of the internet. The changes may be small right now but they only bought in July. It takes time and finesse to change a forum that people are loyal to.

I don't have a problem with the change of ownership. I think it is actually a good thing. I am curious though about how they see the future of HT.

We will have to wait and see. It is evolving and would have evolved if Chuck or Group Builder would have kept it.

Homesteading Today Facebook official page does have more of the CMG content, but I'm working with them to get more of the HST threads featured.

A decision now, may not be a decision tomorrow. But, overall, it's still Homesteading Today.

According to a recent press release, yes. The are working with those and several others to create digital advertising campaigns tailored to specific audiences.

Thanks for explaining, Angie. But it must be a bear for you and the other mods to have to get used to new "bosses".

Not really. The Carbon Media Group are really a bunch of many nice folks.

And check out Carbon TV. I had joined that before this happened. They have some great firearms 'shows' on it. So, I think it's rather neat to be part of something I was already interested in on the whole World Wide Web.

I think it's exciting news. I doubt I can get Carbon TV but regarding all their other neat forums you mentioned, I'm always on the lookout for interesting new forums. Can you provide names of the forums or links to them or a directory to all their other forums or whatever conection you have so we can go check them all out?

I don't know all of them. But they all have something to do with outdoors.

What are you most interested in? What type of hunting? Bow, firearms, in Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Maine? Fishing? Catfish or Deep Sea?

Here's a few to start with:

If you log in and click on "HOME" that will take you to 5 more forums by linkage.

www.georgiapacking.org

http://www.catfish1.com/forums/forum.php

That's a few.

Check them out and see if membership in more than one forum works for you.

I don't understand, Monstanto and Syngenta have both been soundly hated on this forum for years by the majority of posters. In fact, I've read on multiple occasions that any poster that supports them is considered a "shill." Plus Dupont is considered "Big Pharma" and, if possible, is hated by more forum members than Monstanto.

What type of changes will be implemented because of the new owner's affiliation with these companies?

Nope.. my log-in here doesn't work on the gun board.. .That's cool though.. I don't need another forum to take even more of my time.. ;)

Anyway, interesting thread... nice to find CarbonTV.. never heard of it before, but I'll be doing some watching :D

Ya know.. I was just thinking.. if they wanted more exposure to their web sites, then why didn't they use this forum as advertising to their other forums.. I mean, why wasn't there an announcement that plugged their other sites too?

Sure seems strange they didn't.... I know if I owned all this, I'd sure be trying to get as much traffic everywhere else I owned...

Or were they worried they'd run off more than they'd gain elsewhere?

They wanted to let us be Homesteading Today and not a recruiting site for other forums. That would have been very obvious. We have a lot of smart members.

I only listed those as I was specifically asked.
