I'm in the middle of zone 6. We usually have a week or two in the single digits, and occasionally down to -5. Do I have a change of wintering the artichokes?

And if so - should I do anything to protect them?

If you put them in buckets, but otherwise artichokes don't grow in zone 6.

Nuts. I guess that means I've have to continue growing them as annuals.

I assume that you mean "bring them inside" when you say put them in buckets?
They're so big, I doubt they'd do well in my house. I may try one next year and see if I can keep it alive through the winter in my bedroom.
