I believe it is similar to sheep, by looking at their teeth.

Of course it only goes to the 3-6 year old mark. But it seems that like sheep, they may start to lose teeth as they get older......
Someone who knows more will be along shortly, and set us both straight! LOL!:grin:

Interesting, thanks! I haven't ever noticed missing teeth and he does not have fighting teeth so I'm guessing he's on the older side but maybe not old enough to lose teeth due to age.

I don't know how to tell age by teeth, but are you assuming that the fighting teeth have been removed?

Bergere, thanks for providing that diagram/info. All I can say is good luck getting into the mouth of an alpaca to determine it's age!
