how to mail daylilly roots

    I will be digging up quite a few large daylilly's this year. Can I send these through the mail? How do I do it? I'am assuming the roots are the orange colored things on the bottom. There are a whole bunch of them. I hate to throw them away. Will a lilly grow from just one root? Thanks
