The 2008 Legislative session has begun, and the Ammunition Accountability
Act is being introduced across the country. Below is a list of states where
legislation has already been introduced:
Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana,
Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York,
Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washing ton.
http://ammunitionaccountability.org/Legislation.htm Remember how Obama said that he wasn't going to take your guns? Well, it
seems that his minions and allies in the anti-gun world have no problem with
taking your ammo!

The bill that is being pushed in 18 states (including Illinois and
Indiana) requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacture, a data
base of all ammunition sales. So they will know how much you buy and what
calibers. Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the
ammunition is coded.

Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011.
(Including handloaded ammo.) They will also charge a .05 cent tax on every
round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more! If
they can deprive you of ammo they d o not need to take your gun!
Please give this the widest distribution possible and contact your Reps!

Threre are quite a few reasons why serial numbering bullets won't work That doesn't stop some idiots from introducing bills. They seem oblivious to the fact that some hand cast bullets and some swage them to get jacketed bullets. Making bullets isn't high tech. The industry is fighting the idea too. If the cartridges in a box need a unique serial number, packaging becomes a nightmare.

This is a state by state push by anti-gun groups who are getting anti-gun legislators in States governments to author a bill and has nothing to do with the federal gov't.
If it ever comes up in your state, then you need to write your state legislators. Most of the states on the list don't suprise me (although KY and TN do suprise me)

I'd like to know who owns the patents on the technology. Someone stands to make beau coup bucks off this. Someone is pushing this for their own financial gain. It won't stop crime. It just adds lots of costs to manufacturing and selling of ammo.

That website is referring to the 2008 session, which started in January 2008. SO, how many states passed that bill into law??

The same website mentioned states where it was introduced in 2007. None of them have enacted a law yet.

Just what we need, something else for the black marketers to make lots of money selling. These politicians will NEVER learn.

I clicked on my state's bills and entered the numbers and found nothing. I will ask my state reps to see what they know. I really don't see it passing here in TN. They're working on legislation to allow concealed carry in bars so i don't think they're going for the ammo deal.

just because something is not done yet, does not mean it won't. Oh yeah they always have common sense when enacting laws. The Obamasia is going to be great for this country I can't wait, "Insert Sarcasm here"

The Washington bill refers to pistol ammo only, even if it can also be used in other guns, but not to ammo that can only be used in other guns.

Don't know if it passed. I doubt it - I'm sure I would have heard about it!

Obama has stated on many occasions that he is for tougher gun and ammo laws across the board, he is no friend of the gun owner, that is where he comes into play. I was not bashing him just stating the facts, Bush has been no friend to the gun owners but has been better than Obama will be. So before getting all twisted up get the facts, I am not insulting the great socialist leader of our time, It's OK.

The thing that is going to get everyone is when they put a heavy tax on all ammo driving the ammo prices through the roof. Only the rich will be able to purchase ammo.

Hm sounds like a plan, then us stupid folks that cling to religion and guns will have a free hand. I am stocked up, to bad I lost all my guns in a boating accident.
