it will take for a pile of wood chips, mixed inadequately with cow manure, to rot down? note, i didnt say compost, cause i dont think it is. the pile is about 6 or 7 foot high, built with a bobcat, and we cant turn it-so it will have to just sit. with the rain we're supposed to get, it should be wet all the way thru--cover it with black plastic? or prepare to wait?

If you turn it every two weeks and make sure it is moist, not wet, it will go to dirt in about a year and a half or to something resembling that in the peat bog in 6 months. Really depends on how big the stuff is (smaller is better), how often you turn it (every week or two is good), how wet (not too wet, not too dry), and most importantly, luck.
