It is smoked swiss and smoked cheddar. The wrapper is heavy cryo-vac packaging and is in good shape. The cheese looks perfect and flavor is really good. There is no sign of it going bad but the sell by date was a good while back. No farther back than that.

Cheese keeps a good long while if its properly wrapped to prevent mold or drying. It sounds like you have a nice treat. The smoking of it also is a measure to insure long shelf life. I wouldnt worry too much about it.

It's only fairly recently that anyone would have thought of putting a "best before" date on cheese, especially cheese that benefits from aging like cheddar. Even now you can buy ten year old cheddar from the cheese factories. Costs two arms and a leg, but gives you a good idea of how long cheddar keeps with proper storage.
