Husband and I are on 2 acres of poor soil which we are working to improve. We live with 6 dogs, 2 cats, and 12 chickens. Hoping to have more chickens and fewer dogs as time goes on. We're in our 50's and have long dreamt of having a farm of our own (or homestead, as they call 'em now). He does all the awesome repairs, fencing, building and heavy stuff on his days off; I feed animals, work on garden beds, and demo whatever sections of the house we get ready to renovate.

On Facebook we have a page which features our rustic furniture which we make here at the farm. It's awesome being married to a master carpenter. (Jonestead Rustic)

Also planning to have goats and hogs. We look forward to connecting with like minded folks on here. Thanks for having us.

Welcome to here! I moved from South Louisiana, the land of "black gold" soil to mountain-land (poor and rocky soil). I am learning how to remediate poor soil. It takes time, but mulch is king!

Looking forward to reading more of your posts!
