She's six months old and the light of my life, but she's also the cause of mine and my wife's lack of sleep at the moment due to...TEETHING!!!! I need suggestions from those of you who have survived this, what eased their discomfort the most? Helped them sleep...Any and all ideas welcome...

So, I will ask as calmly and as sanely as I can right now....

HELP!!!!

Those of you who have been here before should be able to sympathize, when I say I ain't kidding neither....

Put your teething rings into the freezer - ditto the washcloths [put knots in them to better chew on].

Oragel [sp - it's been along time, LOL] to put on the gums when its really bad. Hang in there - this too will pass ).

Lmnde

PS.: take naps when baby does.

Our little daughter is nine months old so we feel your pain. She has her bottom two front teeth and is working on the top two.

The only thing we found that worked was ibuprofen. She's like a different child - happy, sleeps well, etc. Otherwise she was just so uncomfortable.

Hang in there!

Celery is a natural anesthetic. I gave it to my granddaughter when she was teething the worst, the homeopathic teething tablets mentioned earlier, tylenol, apple slices to chew on, teething rings from the fridge--the frozen ones were too cold for her. And lots of butt paste on that little bottom cause she always had a really bad rash with the teething. I know we aren't done with it yet either since she is only 2 1/2 but she seems to be better with it on the molers. Oh and lots of time in the rocking chair on Nana's lap. I think her favorite was the teethers, though.

I can relate - my 18 month old is cutting 3 molars and another tooth all at the same time right now. Something cold to gnaw on, homepathic teething tablets and sometimes infant motrin when necessary. Usually only give him the motrin when he is really fussy at night.

I 2nd the cold washcloth and ibuprofen, it lasts longer than tylenol and eases the swelling. Try to maintain a regular dosing schedule with it, that way your not playing catch up when the little darlin is hurting. Don't forget the teething cookies, even found a recipe for em on the net somewhere and made em for DGS. Its pathetic but when your kids are almost grown you even look back fondly on TEETHING! Sad ain't it?! :baby04:

Baby Orajel just isn't the same since they took the alcohol out of it. Dd got her teeth in 2 at a time and we went through teething rings, hard toast, wash rags, and 3 tubes of Orajel. If I had it to do over I would have just got the whiskey. It would have cost less.

I swear by the Hyland's homeopathic teething tablets. My DD (14 months) is cutting 2 molars right now!

Yes, yes, yes, yes. They are the best! And natural! If you rub whiskey on their gums, it actually can make the area throb after it wears off and make them even more miserable.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: The whisky does work. My youngest spent 4 months cutting her first teeth. Her gums would swell and be red and her disposition reflected her misery and this happened over and over until she got her first teeth at 11 months old. Her great uncle (without my knowledge) gave her whisky and we got our first nights sleep in months and months.

Silly booklover, when that happens you just rub some more whiskey on the gums.

All of the above are great...we also cut up melon into slices our little one could hold and stored it in the fridge until needed. She would suck and enjoy that for ages and it seemed to really ease her pain.
Ummm... the baby is 6 months old. Your suggestion has choke hazard written all over it. No offense, but a baby that young should not be getting melon slices.
