We have purchased a home and are stiving to be as self sufficient as possible. one of my biggest 'worries" is being with-out water if electricity is off. We have a well that is run by electricity. We would like to be able to have access to water by a hand pump also though. Is there anyway to do this without having a new well dug??????? Thanks in advance!

This might be difficult depending on what sort of pump you have and the depth of the well.

So how about installing an above ground tank kept fill by your existing pump? If the electricity fails you can have water for however big the thank is.
