Hi! I posted this in the Barter Board, but will put it here too. I am looking for a young registered Hampshire boar. I live in central MA. Am willing to drive a reasonable distance.

Have you tried your states ag papers.?? Also you might want to think about A.I. if you can't find one

I've seen several postings that suggest AI over having a boar. I can understand that it saves a lot of hassle in the care and feeding of a boar, but what are the costs for this type of breeding?

Semen is about $20.00 up to several hundred depending on the boar. you might want to check out the web sites for show pigs as there are a lot of listings.

No, I don't want to AI. I haven't been able to find anything local. I may have to travel. :(

    Jennifer,
I get my pigs from a guy in Millbury, MA. I don't know if he has registered animals, but if not he may know someone who does. His name is Peter Blash. 508-865-1028.
    Good luck,
    Bob
