For any of you wanting to move to a California homestead, you should first probably look at how the housing market is doing out there now.

For instance, you can get into this cute bungalow for peanuts. With an interest-only loan! Postage stamp size back yard will hold four tomato plants. Sorry, no rabbits allowed.

    Other pluses:

-- Former meth lab (lab moved next door).
-- Charming bullet holes in window.
-- House about ready to fall off of foundation (making it easier to move to another lot).
    -- Cheapest house in town!
-- And, it's on a nicely named street!

Housing Bubble? You must be kidding.

Other pluses I forgot to add:

-- No extra charge for cosmetic surgery.
-- Phone (which stays with house) already programmed to speed dial 911.
-- Police station only 11 miles away!
-- Wonderful school district! (Kids required to wear bullet-proof vests).
-- Speed bumps in street frustrate drive-by shooters!
-- Formerly owned by a realtor who tripled her money on it in 1 year!

Can you think of any others???

My neighbors just sold their house here in California for the same price. Only it had a nice 3 bedroom, 2 bath home on 7 acres. Has a big, old red barn, is in the irrigation district and planted in alfalfa. Oh, and the view of Mt.Shasta is breath taking.

I live in Costa Mesa, bordering Santa Ana. That's actually a great deal considering the average home price in this county is above 550K for not a lot more than offered in that ad. Homes on my street are selling in the mid 700's at the low end of the scale for similar vintage, just to be 'dozed and duplexed.

And my friends think I'm crazy for wanting to move away. I just can't justify renting for the rest of my life.
