I need to plant growing things in various bare spots of the yard. I need things that are not poison to goats or chickens. Not for them to eat but in case they get to the plants they will be ok. I have a fence around my garden area. But I need a ground covering that will grow in partial shade, in florida and not need a lot of attention. Also some flower sugestions.

roses would be good. (my goats are the best rose pruners in the world!) I'm not sure about the ground cover.

My roses are now all tree roses as they have been pruned by goats. The mini roses did not survive. I have been thinking about low growing herbs, basil and chives. That way I could justify the cost as we could also use herbs for cooking/canning.
