What are some good sheep wormers? Any suggestions? Dosages would be nice too if ya know 'em
We use Ivomec drench or injectable, and Safeguard drench and crumbles cattle doses for Safeguard and the sheep dose rate for Ivomec, They're on the packages, but for Safeguard Crumbles it's 100mg per 100 kg (220 pounds) and double that to kill tape worms.
Ivomec, Ivomec Plus, and Valbazen ( to non-pregnant ewes only )
We use dosage per label.
We have been using Dectomax off label at a rate of 1cc per 75 lbs. Due to the prevalence of the meningeal worm (brain worm) we have been using it monthly during the wet summer, (also for the llamas). If the roundworms become resistant we use ivomec drench, panacur or valbazen alternatively.
However, our Katahdins are fairly resistant and the dectomax is all we have had the need to use lately.
Hey Michaelk , I am in Jefferson county. Lucky for me I think most other wormers are working at the moment but thanks for the dosing of Dectomax.
Can Safeguard Goat dewormer be used on a sheep? Sometimes our house becomes a refuge for unwanted farm pets. We own goats but right now we have a small sheep (about three months) old that has never been dewormed or anything.
Yes it is safe to use Check out this link: http://www.sheepandgoat.com/articles/antheltable205.html
Cool. Thanks for the site. My hubbie was going to talk with our vet today before we head to the feed store.
