I'm reading a book called "Better off: flipping the switch on technology". Very good book. I'm not a fast reader but I've chewed through about the first 150 pages ( of 200+) in about 8 hours.

Give us a few hints of what's in it.

it's mostly about a guy and his wife going to live with some amish type community. explains how they work and makes you stop and think why life with reduced technology is better (mentally, physically and environmentally) than relying on it for everything.

Since I'm now visiting with my daughter this week in "Amish" country in PA I can sit on the front porch of her home...and often wondered how we would handle their life. We do have an Amish couple whose husband did help us with "rebuilding" part of our old farm house a few years back up state and learned a lot from working together with him. Think I'll look for that book too.

I'd like to read it too; thanks for bringing this to our attention. I think they have the right idea for the most part; joining efforts, helping one another and living off the land as much as possible.

*I just ordered the book online; gotta love online shopping! LOL.
