This site helped me to save one of my favorite milking does today.

When I went out to milk I noticed my Nubian cross doe was bloated. Instead of panicking, (well, I panicked slightly . . .) I came to this site, did a search on bloat, and found out just what to do.

I got her up in the milking stanchion, got a few large marble-sized blobs of baking soda into her. Came in and read some more, then went out and got one cup of corn oil down her. (Didn't have mineral oil, which seems to be the first choice.)

Within 15 minutes, the bloat was GONE, and Mammy was not in pain any more. This afternoon, it's sunny, and she's out browsing with her babies.

Whew! I think I caught it early. Thanks to all of the good advice on this site! I remain thankful and ever grateful for all the experienced folks who are willing to share their knowledge with us newbies.
