Dear AngieM2,

Now that the voting is over I would like to see this forum get back to its purpose: Survival and Emergency Preparedness.

The folks here at S & EP are Salt of the Earth people so I don't wish anyone to take these words personally. However, during these many months many posts here were politically oriented. Many would have been better on General Chat and not here. I also realise there are many people here that know others personally and want to share thier views with them. That is OK but lets put the politics on General Chat or the newer Politics Forum.


There will be a huge amount of politcal news for the next year, but I come here for other reasons. I have had my fill of politics to last me a long time. Let's return to the Forum we love.

You got my vote. I had thoughts of a similar post today but thought twice.


I would have gotten locked down for inciting a riot due to my distaste of such open bigotry. It would be nice to show that we are afterall, trying to rise above the common mindset by being homesteaders and preppers. Some are just more prepared for that than others.............

I agree! No matter who or what we still have a rough road ahead. Let's support each others' efforts.

Let's face it, the election and its immediate aftermath were of great interest to those of us who prep. The associated outcomes and events directly affected our timetables and plans. But those issues are no longer at the forefront of the things that affect us. Time to relegate them to their proper corner.

Perhaps we each need to install a mental filter to help limit us to posting things involving preparedness and survival here. I believe this forum was well moderated throughout in the face of overwhelming drift potential! The moderator fills an important function, but she is not our mommy. We each need to do our part to police ourselves. If someone posts something that is clearly not SEP, then we need to take the high road and be big enough to ignore it.

I think the biggest task facing all of us now is to stay focused. On our preps, on our finances, and on our forum. There will be a million temptations to divert us from what is important, but a year from now, I hope I will be able to face reality with calm resolve, not full of regret for what I might have done had my attention not been so divided.

Just so you all understand something: This is in no way aimed at our beloved moderator AngieM2. She has had an over whelming job here as have mods on the other forums. I think she has done extremely well for us here at S & EP

My thanks to "ovsfarm" for mentally reminding me to say something very positive about Angie. I think she is a sweetheart to many of us here. In the past I have sent her an email or two about other issues or sites that may be of interest to this forum.

Aye! here too....the election is over, and whether the results are good or bad, we're survivalists. We're at least one leg up on the average person, in terms of planning ahead for economic, health or terrorist problems. We've had democrats for a long time.

I missed all the helpful threads about how to keep my food safe and fresh....

Very well said. I have no stomach for bickering and hurt feelings. This forum has always felt homey and comfortable...a great support system for anyone old or new and the best part is that we've never had the usual cliques you find on a lot of boards so anyone who want to join in feels welcome right away. I hope we can get back to that. If not, it would be a great loss.
