What is the actual gestation period for a doe? We can never seem to get it right. We were told 30 days but are does are more like 32 day does or more. We breed NZ/Californian crosses for meatpen.

Do women always deliver exactly on the day of 9 months? Well, animals aren't "machines," either, so it will vary anywhere from 28 days to 32 days, and sometimes even longer. Just be prepared by putting a nest box in by the 28th day.

I breed NZ and Cals also. Large litters are usually kindled on day 31.
Smaller litters are sometimes kindled on day 31 to day 34. The large
and smaller refers to the "number" of kits in the litter and not the actual
size of the kits. I consider 6 kits and under to be a smaller litter for
    NZ and Cals.
