Doing the same thing.. was shocked at some of the things I found that for some reason the family never passed down. And I never knew how common my last name actually was and that certainly adds to the frustration and difficulty in doing research and verifications of individuals.

Good luck on your search..

Yes, I have searched a good deal of sources. How far back have you gotten in your search, geneerationally? I did my fathers side years ago and got back to Charlemange and Robert the Brus (Bruce). This Dutch side is really secretive. Are you a member od LDS, GenWeb or Ancestry?

I have a lot of dutch ancestry too. pretty much cover all of Europe. on my name line my 3rd great grand father is currently my focus and currently a dead end.. born in 1799 Connecticut and died 1881 New York. Thomas Rogers. I have found 5 other Rogers that tie in to his line though, 2 of which I have traced those Rogers back to the king of Cicely.

His wifes mother was a Van patten (dutch) and multiple dutch lines on that side. they were the founders of Schenectady New Netherlands (new york), quakenbosch, shomerhorn, conyn, bradt, hemmstraat and many more

pretty much all the royals go back to Charlemagne, I have multiple lines that route to him as well

This guy has some great videos on the royal linages https://www.youtube.com/@UsefulCharts

We are cousins! In doing the Bruce line I discovered I was the 23rd cousin of the recently late Queen Elizabeth...I felt that 10 million others were too! Thanks for the link.

I have date for the family with my mom showing up. Did remember last night that her HB ran off shortly after they were married in CA. So I recalled my moms sister's marrid name: Storer and can't find him, but I will!

I love genealogy research. Found out on my Granny's side we descended from William and Mary Brewster who came over on the Mayflower. Also found out I have Irish descendents who were white slaves. Where is my reparations?

Have you tried Find a Grave? My husband has had great success tracing his family with this site.

Yes, I have. I don't know where she was living. I did remember that she was married in Los Angeles and I recalled his last name but there is, so far, nothing for him. I also remembered her husband disappeared after a vry short time married. The authorities never found any trace of him or a body...nothing. They never had kids. His name was Jerry Storer. Thanks for the encouragement.

Depending on where you are, town/county offices have vital record info. As a municipal worker, we have all sorts of people who outreach to us to find their great-great-something. Or they come in and browse our records (all public).
