Kinda sorta, that's in the 'dacks, I'm in the southern tier. My claim to fame: Bill Pullman worked on my family's dairy farm.

Guess that makes me sorta in between both reported gator sightings..... well maybe closer to Irish Pixie by couple of miles. In either case you both can keep your neighborhood pets in your neighborhoods.....;)

And here I thought a pot belly pig for a pet was strange; neighbor's DD has one - house broken..

The Northern limit for alligators to survive the Winter is North Carolina.
Any seen North of there are most likely escaped "pets", not signs of a breeding population.

When I was a kid gators were getting rare in Texas. The Brazos had a few. Then we re-introduced them in a big way now we are overpopulated. I went to a gator farm when I was a kid. A man there had the idea to feed the gators dead chickens from his chicken farm. They dont let them lay for long anyway. PETA deemed this inhumane for the chickens and Pilgrims Pride made him turn them loose in the Atoyac river which leads to Sam Rayburn lake. 5000+ gators converging on the wildlife in the second largest lake in Texas.

Now we have people that buy them and raise them for meat and hide. They pay 50 dollars a foot for male and 60/ft for female. Live of course. Anyone looking for part time work I can hook you up.

This alligator was very healthy and in good shape so had not been free for long.Another escaped "pet" belonging to another irresponsible moron. As the father said it was a good thing that his kids were older and knew the danger and not two or three year old.
After the horrific crushing death of the two little boys while they slept by the escaped python I would have hoped people would have smartened up
And stopped keeping wild uncontrollable animals.

Weirdly there are accounts. By the early explorers of gators in Illinois.
We are getting armadillos up here now.
I suppose any critter with a hankering to travel can cover some ground in a couple hundred days.

I dont fish the Galveston bay in the early winter/spring unless its in a boat. The gators come into brackish water to let the salt water kill the leaches. If that dont work they will go full on salt water and love redfish spawning for meat.
