I am wondering can u make a profit off a 1 acre vegetable garden?
Sure you can if you have a good market to sell what you raise. One acre is one huge garden if you don't have very much help.
My mama's been doing it for 40 years.
There are a gazillion books on this subject at the library. It can be done...good luck!
Yep cause I grow cucumbers on about an acre.I get $15 a bushel for them. I used to grow about an acre of cantalopes and made about $500 a row. try a subscription for Growing For Market you can find it on line.
them kinda "veggies" is illegal.
... on various factors as already described (market conditions, whether or not u-pick or they-pick)... but another thing to consider is, "Will my family and I eat fromt he garden as well"? If so, and the family is large... it implies a certain variety and density.
We made $2600 profit from 4/10 acre of asparagus. Didn't charge enough; customers are regulars and previous owner said we needed to raise prices. Each crown is now the size of a barrel. Established for l4 years. You might look into it; we didn't water it; mowed when done and let grow til next spring.
Shawnee, can I ask how you sold it? Pick your own, farmers market, or whatever? And, how much you were charging?
