Hey all;

I am putting together a garden kit for Christmas for my 4 YO great nephew...thinking a small pot with seeds, gloves a trowel and ??? any thoughts??

How about real shovel,rake & hoe kits in kiddie size? My son loved this when he got it for a present.

My kids loved to garden, so I would go with a large pot, trowel, seed, garden gloves and maybe even a gardening book geared for children. Child size rakes, shovels, etc are a super idea too!

Make sure there is a watering can in that gift - they love to water at that age. You can get him a little gardening apron and kneeling pad too. He might think a rain gauge of his own is pretty cool.

Get him a pack of pumpkin seeds...children are fascinated watching "their" pumpkin grow.

My four year old loves to water the garden with her watering can. Another idea is to make a little sign that can stake into the ground that says "Nephew's Name's Garden" on it.

All my 4 yr old son is interested in is a shovel when we are in the garden. He LOVES to dig.

A Green Plastic Frog.....he can place it where he wishes....I would put small plastic toys in my garden, the kids loved to find them, frogs in the strawberry plants, lizards on rocks, they loved to hunt and see what was new....

mine loves his watering can and garden boots (rubber boots) and a cap, cause mom always wears a hat in the garden...and kids glvoes for gardening...

My grandparents had one of these TickleMe Plants when I was a kid and I thought it was the best thing ever! The plant would close its leaves and lower its branches when I tickled it. Ten minutes later the branches would rise up again! I had totally forgotten about it. What a nice stroll down memory lane and a great idea for my grandmother!
