Oh wow, there are so many I have read for free! Rather than try to list them all, just looking them up on Amazon. Now this I can tell you: if you go by the freebie list there are very few. But just look up your topic under books and then you get a much longer list, many of which will be free. Once you can afford the $10 a month, there will be even more with Kindle unlimited. But the work around way of finding them really will find you much more than just going to the free books list.

Most libraries are offering books in digital format and will order in paper copies if they don’t have a book you want . Then you can save up for purchasing ones you’ve previewed and really want to keep long term .

internet archive is also a great resource for old magazine articles , books, audio andvideos.

I used to spend hours in the library. I would walk through the aisles and look at the books. Take one off the shelf and thumb through it to see if I liked it. Put that one back and choose another. For me it was comforting to sit in those comfortable chairs and read. Libraries even carry magazines and newspapers. Before the internet they were the only place you could get lots of information about almost any subject.

Personally, I prefer reading a book over something on the internet. With a book I can flip back and reread something. The pages turn when I turn them (my tablet turns them when I try to read the bottom of a page). The lights from a book don't give me a headache. I can read a book in the car, during the day, without having to plug it into a charger.

Jerry kindly explained why that isn’t an option for her.
I saw that and realize she can't physically visit a library. There are so many experiences that most of us had and enjoyed as children that Jerry has never had. But she said previously that she has free time at school which she spends playing games on her phone. I can't remember if her school has a library, or if she even asked about the school library.
