I hope to be at the stock show, Sondra.
I can't go on Saturday, hopefully, because I have to help dh sell some trees. There's supposed to be an article about him and our farm (www.metromaples.com) in the Dallas Morning News on Friday.
I temper my expectation because the article was supposed to be published in mid-December and we got "bumped".

Why do they always do goats on Sundays?
That's the reason I have skipped it in the past! That's what I want to see. :waa:

I am extremely new to this but isn't this an odd time to be having a Dairy Goat show? Isn't most everybody heavy bred right now. I thought they needed to have a nice big udder to be showing.

Your stuck with what dates the fair board gives you, we showed Saturday and Sundays at Houston for years, now it's the middle of the week which is harder for those who work. We never showed Fort Worth because it was just plain to early in the year, shaving up your just freshened does in January is just not happening, it's bad enough shaving for Houston (which I don't show at either, a big ole asthma attack with the cedar shavings and enclosed barns). The stock shows are really shows of the past, they used to be huge, major herds, good money, now you had better be calling around to other breeders of your breed to even just make sure there is 10 of the breed, expensive to show at a stock show then to show up and have 9 milkers!!!!!!!!$$$ The meat goats have taken them over.

You breed does to show at Houston, FortWorth and the Nationals. Course you can always take unbred yearlings, if you have them. Vicki

See you there Sunday afternoon, Sondra and Stacy. And I'd like to meet any others who can come.

I just like goat shows. I don't care if it's January. I couldn't go last year on Sunday so I took a vacation day and went on Monday to see the NDs.
