Anybody know what the coffee table like large cards in the picture are?

The article says: The wool for the weft yarn is done on the flat cards. The wool for the warp is done on knee cards.

Yes, but it is not clear which is which, and I've not found other references yet.

references "carding benches or stock cards" but there is no picture, and the description is of a sloped top, and these seem to be level.

Other mentions of carding benches show something a bit different:

Oh my goodness, didn't even see the #3. So the familiar hand cards are not in the caption at all, not labeled something different.

So the ones I was initially curious about are "flat cards". That knee card, it's not continuous card cloth, but laid out in strips?
