Well our sweet little Millie (Jersey) just presented us with the prettiest little hiefer about 5 hours ago. I went out to feed and she didn't come with the others so I went looking for her and found her in the tree line with her brand new calf. I must have miss counted because I thought I had a few more weeks with her but they both seem to be doing fine now. I have them in he barn because it's suppose to get a little cool tonight and I don't want to take any chances with them.

Now if my luck holds out and I stay with heifers.........

I'm hoping to take some pictures this evening so I can show her off to you guys. She is a sweetie. Still don't know how I miss counted though.

Why is it that they have to go to the most remote and thickest part of the pasture to calve? I'm glad I went looking for her. I waited until she cleaned her up fairly good and then carried her to the barn. Millie didn't fuss too much just followed behind occasionally sniffing the calf to make sure I wasn't try to steal it I guess. This morning they were doing great. The calf was nursing away while Millie was eating some hay.

Hopefully I can get the pictures to post.
