I have dairy breed steers on a full feed of a finisher mix of whole corn and protein that I get mixed and delivered from the local elevator.

I was talking to a guy who said he has his on distillers grain and protein, and he thinks they are doing better than when on the corn.

I called the elevator and they said the price is about the same, but they didn't think the cattle would do any better on the distillers.

Anybody have any experience with the distillers?

Distillers' grain and brewers' grain isn't the same thing. Brewers have to mash while some distillation does not require mashing. Distillers concentrate alcohol brewers make beer.

That makes a difference in protein content.

distillers or brewers grain is high in protine and fiber but lacking in energy id do a mix of corn and distilers grain to even it out i feed my broiler chickens on 10 parts corn 5 parts brewers grain and 1 part soy meal to give a 16% protine ration the cows love it when i give it to them as a odd treat
