I also tried the sweet corn in the raised bed. I went north to south. That was a mistake. I was hoping the shadow from the corn would let the lettuce grow longer but it produced to much shadow. The corn is not ready yet but I planted it late so I'm not expecting it until Sept 1st. I did notice the wind was beating it up quite a bit. Lost all my apples from a windstorm last week. But they are young trees not many apples to lose.
I also tried to grow my own sweet potatoes this year. They are still in the ground so don't know if that was success yet or not.
I used old potatoes for my seed potatoes. More because I just didn't have time to go buy the seed potatoes. Wish I had made the time, because my harvest was very low. Just planted more green beans and lettuce this month hoping for a fall harvest.
I'm new to this so most of my experimenting is "learning" not only about gardening but also my soil.
