 my little doe-18 mo. old-has never been bred--going to breed her this fall-like half of her udder is full like she is ready to have a baby--any ideas--she is fine-eats-drinks-gets into trouble-and all that good stuff--its been like that for a couple of weeks--any help--

Your goat has a precocious udder. This is fairly common in good milking lines. My goat mentor says to leave the udder alone unless it is hot and infected. If there is no infection and you milk her, you leave the orifice open to getting infected. Breed her as planned and when the kids are ready to be born, her udder should come in even. I've seen this in several of my friend's doelings, but my Nubians have not been precocious.

Yes, there are goats with precoocious udders.

But to be on the very safe side, watch for signs of labor just in case. There may have been a "secret meeting" between her and the buck...or even her and a little buckling that did not seem old enough.
