I may just finally get to live the end of a long drought tonight. In the grand scheme of things, such events are meaningless. Compared to:

Meeting the true love of my life 31 years ago.
The birth of DS 18 years ago.
The birth of DD 16 years ago.
The death of my brother 2 years ago (yesterday).
The death of my dad 5 months ago.
Buying the homestead 4 years ago.

It is a meaningless period of time. Compared to the despair of the very real Midwest drought in 2012, it is not worth mentioning.

Yet I still hope this ends this year. Not since the late '70s and early '80s has autumn felt this way. Back then I lived for the evening broadcast of my youthful aspiration. Now life has much richer rewards that do not involve media. But tonight, the radio is on, just like it was 3 decades ago. Unlike others that have had frequent or occasional success of their beloved, I have not. With drought, though, I get the privilege of reliving my youth. Apparently, no amount of time can put out the fire.

Go Royals!
